Jared Hanenburg

Director: Ascent Academy

  • Director / / / Head Coach

In my time coaching volleyball I have had the opportunity to work with some incredible athletes. During that time, I’ve helped lead high level teams to impressive provincial rankings. I’ve been lucky enough to coach multiple athletes towards recognition as provincial All-stars. I am currently a part of the coaching staff of the Kelowna Christian Senior Boys, various club teams with Genesis Athletics, and Team BC’s Zone 2 Program. I’m passionate about using sport as a tool to teach athletes positive life skills, such as teamwork, resilience, and leadership. Im excited to help guide even more athletes to become the best version of themselves, and achieve their goals on the volleyball court.

  • Head Setting Coach

With seven years of competitive experience as a setter where I achieved multiple provincial championships and national medals, volleyball has shaped my life both on and off the court. Transitioning from player to coach, I have been fortunate enough to train athletes at all skill levels focusing on refining fundamental skills, boosting confidence, and fostering leadership. Passionate about elevating playmaking ability, I am dedicated to helping aspiring setters become not only more proficient athletes but dynamic leaders on the court.

  • Grade 8-10 Assistant Coach

I have been involved with volleyball for the past 8 years of my life with experience ranging from being a player to a coach. My coaching philosophy centers around creating a positive, supportive environment where athletes can not only develop their skills but also build confidence and identity. In the past, I have coached with Genesis beach volleyball, summer camps, KCS Jr teams and I currently coach at St. Andrews High School. I am currently a university student studying sports psychology and it is my mission to create safe environments within the volleyball community to help foster growth both mentally and physically.

  • Grade 6/7 Assistant Coach

I’m Ella Dubé, a Grade 10 student with over four years of experience playing volleyball at both the school and club levels. I’ve also had the opportunity to serve as an assistant coach for the Genesis Athletics 11U club team, where I really enjoyed teaching younger players, helping them improve their skills and introducing them to new techniques. Volleyball is something I’m really passionate about and I enjoy sharing that passion with others, hopefully inspiring them to love the game as much as I do. I’m excited to keep coaching and make a positive impact on new players, helping them learn and have fun.

In my free time, when I’m not coaching or playing indoor volleyball, you’ll likely find me playing beach volleyball, going on walks with my dog Jewel, swimming or just enjoying the outdoors.
